So its taken me quite a while to get to this last part with racefriv being busy with other projects lately, but better late than never, here you are, the final chapter in our great american road trip.

Clipping Point Drift Practice. Drift Flu

So Racefriv.com made it out again to Clipping Points drift practice round. As always we had an awesome time. This was one of those events that just had a great vibe from beginning to end despite the pouring down rain. Honestly the rain made it a whole lot better between the rain drifting and the "other" distractions it was truly an event like no no other.

State of the Tuning

Read a post on speedhunters.com today and it was one of the better post Ive ever read on there (and I love them all). I added to the comments, realizing I went on a bit of a rant, I decided to copy it here with a few photos of home made awesomeness, because the people they interviewed seemed pretty negative about the community and I disagreed.

So we have driven the epic US101 down the coast, ate breakfast at a casino, and played with trash in the great salt flats. Its time to move from the flat desert land into the great Rocky Mountain Range. The journey has been long and hard so far, but we had no idea what was coming for us next. A Lesson In JDM

A lot of people talk about JDM these days. JDM stands Japanese Domestic Market meaning cars or whatever made for only the Japan market. Today JDM is used for so much more, people have put JDM branding on everything these days. Its really sad that "JDM" is almost looked down upon these days mainly becuase of all the ebay'rs, craiglisters, and trash talkers that call everything under the sun JDM just to sell a few products to some out of the loop kids. But it wasnt always like that. There was once an amazing time where JDM truly stood for something and our good friend TJ is here to show what a true JDM car is really about.

Clear to Drift 2011

So racefriv.com made it out to Clear to Drift hosted by StreetWiseDrift in Thomson, GA this past weekend, and no doubt it was the most professional drift event I've seen in GA besides the Formula D events. Held at the Thomson airport to raise money for the tiny city of Thomson; throw in drag racing, gymkhana, drifting and a car show...and you have pretty sick event on your hands.

So this is Part 2 of our amazing S2000 cross country trip. Part one can be found here 3500-miles-one-s2000-12-states-4-days-Part 1. The first leg of our journey was the easiest part of our trip. Now its time for the long haul.

People always say the journey is the destination, In this case my destination was truly a journey. One journey that included 17 hour drives, eating at a casino, jack and cokes, giant trees, freezing deserts, hot mountain sides, staying at the dead hooker inn, feeding squirrels, endlessly searching for premium gas, singing karaoke, and driving an amazing convertible across an entire country.  This was our journey.

speed limits - and why you can drive a bit faster than them

So this is an op-ed piece, take it for what its worth - less than 2 cents - and in no way represents sound legal advice.  It comes from hours of driving a two lane road to work, a road with only a few passing opportunities and a 55 speed limit.  Some drivers really try to stick to the 55 speed limit, others (like me) prefer the 60-65 range.  Those aiming for 55 often slow down for turns and hills resulting in a mismatch between expectations and reality for people like me (that's my polite way of saying that they're blocking the fucking road)

I want to use totally infallible logic to explain why doing more than the speed limit is OK, and why it should be expected and why most people should do it.  I realize that of course this might seem a little odd considering the speed limit is supposed to be the "Maximum" permissible speed - so let me explain.

Bowling Greens Finest

This is a way overdue post about our dear friend Christians C6 Z06.  He says he didn't set out to buy a Z06 but this one fell into his lap at a price he couldn't refuse.  We've all had a ride in it and we can all attest to its total insanity.  For me it was the lateral G meter on the HUD, for others its the 505hp. Whatever kind of car you usually go for you cant deny the corvette Z06 offers some amazing bang for the buck. Christian was brave enough to let me go to town on it with my camera gear, suction cups and all - what a nice guy.

Open Drift Practice Round 2 (part 1)

So Team Frivolous went to the open drift practice at Watermelon speedway in Cordele, GA. Both the ole' cars (the hatchi and the e30) took the beating we gave them quite well. The AE86 is acting a little shaky at times, and the e30 is sputtering a low throttle. This had a a little worried at times, but I'm sure neither of these things are too major, just how it goes. Build It, Race It, Break It, Repeat...


While my car was cooling off in the sweltering 90°+ weather I managed to get the sweat out of my eyes long enough to snap a few pictures. Ish got some good pictures as well, and some go-pro footage that I'm sure will be awesome. Those will come in part 2, but for now here are the pics I snapped.

Friday Night Drag.

So racefriv's Civic hatch finally made it to the drag strips, and man was it a surprise. Sometimes the best nights are the ones that start out with you knowing your screwed.

My life is complete now. Also we have a ton of pictures for drift Atl, like real pics with good cameras and people who can actually shoot (Russell). So stay tuned and you be pleasantly surprised with quality youll see in the near future.Woot! Thanks speedhunters and also the guy with the s2000.

Super Summit Show.

Summit always has big meets, this one was much smaller and contained much higher quality than normal. The super summit is the best of the best from around the country. Im not much of a classic guy but these cars are sick and the attention to detail that was put into these cars was unreal.

Project Scrappy: I like big blocks and I can not lie.

So ok, we changed the name a little and I stole that title from Ball. But that doesn't matter, what does matter is that we got our hands on a Lq4 in good shape. Its a 6.0 thats very close to ls2. Same style just used in trucks and with an iron block. This one coming from a Hummer H2, and as you would assume once we pulled the heads off it looks like it had a pretty easy life.
