NOPI: The Revival

The NOPI Nationals... It's an event we've all either been to or heard a lot of wether it be good or bad. NOPI, as everyone knows it, started its shows in 1988. Unfortunately the show peaked in 2008 when the economy went down. Now in 2012 NOPI is hoping to make its big come back. This past weekend Joel and Jose Lopez were able to attended the two day event in Commerce GA. To say the event was great would be a huge understatement.

Joel brought his camera along to grab a couple shots of some of the cars that caught our eyes. Although we were only able to get Sunday morning coverage of the event, the cars definitely didn't disappoint. This slammed Lexus GS300 showed up really early in the morning and drew so much attention, it had a photo shoot with it's own model that evening.

Editors note: For those wondering, Joel and Jose are two new guest contributors for the racefriv blog! They are the owners of these beautiful cars here  and we want to thank them for joining us. Welcome to the blog hope you have a lot of time on your hands!

KMS@AMS Drift event!!

The first few times I went to the KMS events at AMS I have to admit I really didn't like them, they seemed unorganized and not really into drifting. But this last time it was really fun! Like really really fun. I didn't drive in the event with the 'rolla as this was a competition which involved some tandem and I really didnt want to put the rolla into a wall. That's what project scrap metal is getting built for. I have to say though it was really nice for once just to sit back and watch the mayhem unfold in front of you. Instead of swapping tires, fixing things, and waiting around in the car I got to sit  back, relax, and let the event sink in. Click read more for some of the funnest grassroots drifting I've seen in a while.

Photography Corner - cleaning

Hi friv fans, Phil Ball here with a little photography tip.  I spent some time today trying to organize my photography equipment and on my last shoot I noticed that one of my polarizing filters was dirty.  Its not good to find a mess while out on a shoot so I vowed to look over all my gear and clean it all.

While I was busy cleaning I realized that some folks may not even be aware of how to clean their equipment.  DSLRs are now so popular I see them everywhere and unlike a point and shoot you need to know some things about how to care for them.  The lenses and filters are coated with chemicals that can be damaged by rough handling or powerful solvents, so I made a video to explain my process.

Hit the jump for the vid and some details on where to get the tools.

Love, Hate and Slammed: A Tale of Two Brothers

As an only child I always wanted a brother, a brother to blame things on, a brother to help me keep my sanity on family vacations, and now..........I really wish I had a brother to build baller cars with. The Lopez brothers make me jealous, but not for their brotherly love, but for the awesome S2000 and 350Z they have built over the past year or so. So click read more and let me take you on a journey of Love, Hate and Slammed...
