Project Scrap Metal: Update 9

The last time we talked about project scrap metal I was at Nopi and explained how I destroyed the clutch towards the end of the last day. The car has always felt good but always a little strange as it felt like the clutch was slipping ever since I dropped it in and at Nopi my feelings were confirmed when I toasted the clutch so bad I could barely get it back on the trailer. Well its time to remedy these issues! So click read more to check out the clutch swap and all the other improvements I made over the winter break to project scrap metal.

Project Scrap Metal: Part 7 Grip, Rip, and Whip

So its about time I write a little update on project scrap metal. So were at part 7 now? Crazy how far I've come!  Since we last talked there was another drift event at my local track (AMS) and as normal I busted ass the weeks before the event to get there with a working car. The last time we talked I had a moving car that needed a few tweaks to get it in shape. This time I started to chisel away at the little things the car needed to be a truly badass drift car. RFOF: A Little Trail Riding on a Sunny Day

So what do you do when your hobby is cars and you need a break from it, but still want to do something vehicle related, because lets admit it, you love vehicles. A lot of people I know are so obsessed with internet fame, quarter mile times, or auto cross time slips they forget what brought us to cars in the first place. Fun. What if your hobby is just hooning cars in circles for fun and you need a break from that? Well It seems that a lot of the racefriv crew has found the answer to that and it comes in the form of 4x4s. As some of you  know I recently bought a Jeep Rubicon and I've wanted to take it out for a day of fun ever since. Seems like a lot of my drift buddy's had the same ideas recently and went out and bought themselves some 4x4's too. We took them out to fuck them up a bit. Click "read more" for some pretty awesome pictures of a fun hilly hoonage day.

Project Scrap Metal: 5.7 Liters of Organized Chaos

Well I know a lot of people didn't think I would actually finish it this year but here is the LS240 Vert in all its glory. Project scrap metal has come a long way since we last saw it here. Last time I explained what I did and didn't like about the build and well... instead of bailing on the project I did something about it. I really wanted to build a car to tandem with and not have to worry about too much. There was only one answer, a 240sx. I had huge plans at first and picked up an LQ4 block but at the time I really didn't have the cash to finish it that way. I sold that block and built a KA, which was a big mistake. So I sold the KA and picked up an LS1 to do it right, and here is that build!. Click read more to check it out!!

Love, Hate and Slammed: A Tale of Two Brothers

As an only child I always wanted a brother, a brother to blame things on, a brother to help me keep my sanity on family vacations, and now..........I really wish I had a brother to build baller cars with. The Lopez brothers make me jealous, but not for their brotherly love, but for the awesome S2000 and 350Z they have built over the past year or so. So click read more and let me take you on a journey of Love, Hate and Slammed...

Tim's Slammed and Welded 350 Zed

Pleasant surprise time! My AE86 friend Devin popped by the other day to weld up the open GTS diff he had laying around, and usually he drives down in his old 86. This time however he somehow convinced his friend Tim to drive him down and showed up in this! Woot! Click read more for some pics!

Two of a Kind... Black Skyline.

So in the S2 @ AMS post I introduced you to the R33 you see before you. However it wasn't the only Skyline to grace our presence, an R32 came along as well! We decided before these guys split we needed to get a few pics and here they are in all their skyline glory.

S2 @ AMS!!

So after being dealt a blow by the city of Atlanta Howard Smith finally brought the S2 drift events back, and I for one thank him! I know everyone one out there misses the blue lot but this event brought S2 back with a bang! Two tracks to chose from, indoor pit area, and laps around the banked AMS walls made this one of the more memorable drift events I've ever drifted in. Click read more for all the pictures and insight into the new S2 track!

Project: Scrap Metal- Update 3!!

Alright, it's that time again...time for me to show you the money pit we call Project: Scrap Metal. A lot has happened since we last talked, Whitney died, Valentines day, and someone is running for president. But really none of that crap matters (just kidding babe!). All that matters is that drift season is almost upon us and project scrap metal is well... still looking like scrap metal. But it's getting better everyday.  Click and read more to check out what RaceFriv has been up to.

Project: Scrap Metal..Update!

So project scrap metal is starting to take shape and I figured I'd share some of the progress it's made as it may explain why Ive been selling/buying so many S13 parts lately. Basically this all started when I got bored due to not working on anything, with the Corolla being mostly done and on drift duty I had nothing to wrench on. All my friends recently went out an bought S2000's and I wanted a vert too but couldn't bring my self to sell the suby and get one.  I was determined to get a vert and one day I found this. At first I thought it was going to be a big horse power build but I quickly changed my mind to a cheap, simple and fun build. Something I can drive everyday, enjoy being topless :) and drift it on occasions. So here's where were at. Hit read more for the full story.

(Yes its still looking like scrap metal)

Unobtainium

Unobtainium (aka Unobtanium) : In engineeringfiction, and thought experiments, unobtainium  is any extremely rare, costly, or impossible material.
Some times you come across something so rare, so unbelievable, something so awesome that you have to have it, and nothing can stop you. This is what happened to our friend Kevin, and once you take a look inside you'll understand why he would travel across a continent for it. (if you don't already understand by the picture below)
