AJC International Autoshow review

I'm going to admit right now that although I have lived in the Greater Atlanta Area for going on 7 years this is the first time Ive made it to the AJC auto show.  There are plenty of other car events in Atlanta and I'm fairly sure this particular one is not the biggest but its probably the closest we get to a grown up Auto show like Detroit or Geneva.  I'm going to stop comparing this to those grown up shows now though because it's not a very big show - more like a collection of local dealerships from major manufacturers...

So follow the jump for some photos and some half baked analysis...

Got Seoul?

Hello internet,
This is Asian Phil again and I would like to talk about my new car, also attempt to give a brief consumer review.

I grew up with rear wheel drive vehicles; I previously owned three Nissan 240sx, from mildly bolt-ons to full blown KA-T SCCA Street Mod race car. My last RWD vehicle was a G35 coupe. When I started racing religiously in SCCA 3 years ago, all I've ever driven were S2000, Miata, Porsche Carrera, M3 etc, I really don't know what to do or even have a small desire of owning/driving a front wheel drive car. Until recently, I almost make a mistake and ALMOST bought a MazdaSpeed3.

Random Shot of the Day: The 500

The Fiat 500 showed up at some dealerships yesterday. Not bad and most of them were manuals. Nice!

Project S2000: An Introduction

It's time to introduce another member of Frivolous Motorsports. My name is Parker, or PbUssey as some would call me. In March of 2007, I bought a 2004, Grand Prix White S2000 with tan interior. This car rocks.   Yes, that is snow on the ground.

Find me a daily driver

Sorry this is one of those boring posts with lots of words and no video.  Here's the basic concept:  I'm looking for a nice daily driver.  New - Used I don't really care but I don't want to spent much more than about $20,000 US and if I am in that ballpark it better be new or very nearly new (still under warranty).  Hit more to find out my apparently impossible spec list (and why I have a picture of a four-wheeled frog here)

Hot Rod Update

OK, so the legality of republishing old Hot Rod magazines is dubious at best.  Lets say this is a parody and therefore falls under fair-use laws or something.  Whatever, I was asked for more details about the Indy engine in the 67 Mustang.  You can read the whole thing in the following images, or just be satisfied with knowing it was an alcohol injected, 255ci Indy car motor with a lotus radiator making around 480hp at 9000RPM.  And it didnt have any front brakes...

Upsidedownland: Australia and the many excellent cars of the land down under.

First things first, I love Australia. Its an awesome place to be. I stayed in the city for most of time but as a whole Australia is the only place Id ever want to live other than the states(for now at least). Its awesome. From the roads to the trains and ferries. Australia made the journey fun and for most of the people who read this, a lot of  the time, the journey is the destination.

Cars vs Flying

So I'm sitting here at the Honolulu airport Japanese zin garden area thing. I'm thinking to my self what a crazy trip. I'm covering the awesome cars and scenes in another post. But all these flying shenanigans really made me think about the thing I missed the most. My cars. (My gf was with me so don't go calling her).

Snowpocalypse

Hello everyone hope you had a great new year. Just got back from Australia, had a blast and plenty of adventures. Hope everyone is enjoying there snow day off. Me and the Subaru took an adventure to waffle house at 6am, and had some other good times throughout the day.  Every time it snows it reminds me why I bought a Subaru.

The Jive Turkey's Tale. Part 3: Frivolousness

Ok guys, it's time for part 3 of the tale. If you missed part 2:The budget years. Click Here.

Ok, so at this point I had a car that every mod thus far had been spec e30 legal, so the natural decision would be to put a cage and seat in it and work on spec e30 racing, so this was the plan.....Until I bumped across this brand new on eBay at a price that was too good to pass up.

The Jive Turkey's Tale. Part 2: The budget years.

It's time for part 2 of the e30's tale. If you missed "Part 1:The early years." Click here!

There I had it, a one dollar e30, that was suited for the track. It was still rough around the edges, but had some potential.

After sifting through receipts of what I spent getting it ready I realized I was way under budget for the Grassroots $2005 challenge. So I had a new goal for the car: Put as much lipstick on that pig as I can for <$2005. That's when I realized how much lipstick it would take. Below are a couple graphic pictures of my discoveries. This thing was going to need a paint job...

An Old man named Boots and a Love for Old School Autos.

We all know that guy, theres probably one in your neighborhood. You don't really know him but your drive by his house everyday and see him polishing, welding, and building some sick classics in his garage. You probably want to meet him, but never really got the chance. Well heres one of those guys, and next time you go out stop by and see what hes working on your never know, he may like your slammed civic hatch. (or maybe not)

Hot Rod

In the spirit of Christmas - giving and sharing and all that - I thought I would scan and share a couple of my vintage Hot Rod magazine covers.  So here they are, from the days when Men were Men and Women made them toasted sandwiches on the exhaust manifold.
